ROTARY CLUB OF CHENNAI VELACHERY was formed in the year 2008 (Club No 78475 ; Chartered on 5/3/2008 ) was part of Rotary International District 3232 until june 2024 and from july 2024 we are under RID 3233
Our club is higly active and vibrant for last 16 years and currently with 55 enthusiastic club members and also have Rotractors club & Interactors club and rotary community corps affiliated to our club.
Rotary club of Chennai Velachery has been engaged/reqularly doing various community projects in and around Velachery .
This club is promptly doing /conducting various project for the community by health camps , commuiity service , awarness camps , public imgae projects and regular partnering with government schools across Velachery and supporting them with various awareness camps and engaging school kids by conducting various events and doing various service activities acorss velachery
One of signature project is in environment and as part of community development project, we approached /received permission from MRTS/RLY for executing GREEN VELACHERY Project in the link road between Perungudi MRTS to Velachery MRTS stretch .
- Started with planting 100 saplings on 22nd April 2021 ( Earth Day) , as on end of august 2024 we have planted /maintaining over 33000 Tree saplings and count goes on towards the mission to reach 50000 in a year ( we plant only native tress )
- We have won a project from GCC for beautification of centre median below Velachery flyovers , we have planted 2000 flower saplings with a fountain in centre median also setup a fountain
- 10000 + palm seeds planted across the beach coast and also in the service road from Perungudi MRTS towards Velachery MRTS and the coast .
- Recently we got a GG project approved in environement area

We have received 10 + awards from GCC/TN government & Minister/MP/MLA/ GCC Commissioner & staffs /many Environmentalist have visited and planted saplings with GV team and appreciated our greenery initiative .
